A five-week online art sale will be held to raise money for a South Cumbrian mental health charity.

Artworks – Art4All, featuring 250 pieces of artwork by 130 Cumbrian artists, will raise cash for Self-Harm Awareness For All, based in Barrow and Kendal.

Organised by local artist Sharon Wendy Tait and a team of volunteers, the sale starts at 6pm on October 25 and runs until 8pm on Sunday November 28.

Ian Burns, SAFA chairman, said: “Until I joined SAFA I was very naïve and assumed self-harm simply related to people who cut themselves.

“While this is one aspect of self-harm, there are so many other examples that people don’t think of as self-harm.”

The charity said self-harm was any form of action, routine or behaviour that is not in your long term interests of your health and well-being, including eating disorders, drug taking, alcohol abuse, over working and over exercising.

SAFA says it can deal with all types of cases from the relatively minor to the highly complex and the number of counselling sessions fit individual need.

Artworks – Art4All will be held on SAFA’s Facebook page.
