Kendal Farmers’ Market will bring an educational agricultural roadshow to the town centre later this month.
The market, in association with the Westmorland County Agricultural Society, will host the Farm to Fork Roadshow in Kendal on Friday July 31.
This is the fourth year the roadshow has taken place and the event aims to give people a practical understanding of how farming connects to the food they eat.
The roadshow features live farm animals, including newly hatched chicks, sheep, lambs and dairy cows with their calves.
Interactive educational wooden models are also part of the event, including Clover the dairy cow, Ditto the lamb, Clarissa the beef cow and Percy the pig.
Alongside the animal roadshow, more than 30 trader stalls will sell local farm produce and food.
Marian Graveson, Kendal Farmers’ Market manager, said: “It’s become a firm favourite with visitors and locals alike.
“Bringing animals into the town centre lets people see and ask about farming directly, rather than just reading about it. It helps us explain how UK food production works, and why supporting local farmers and producers matters.”
Stallholders will include My Gourmet Mushrooms, Cross Apiary, Bean & Dunne Coffee, Gan Yam Brewery, Lovingly Artisan Bakery, Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheeses and Ginger Bakers.
