Woman fined for attending rave while Cumbria in grip of coronavirus

A rave party which was held near Penrith, breaching COVID-19 restrictions, has led to an Eden woman who attended being fined.

The party was held inside an industrial unit at North Lakes Business Park, Flusco, on April 4.

At Carlisle Magistrates’ Court, Claire Robson, 33, of Low House Farm Barns, Bowscar, pleaded guilty by post to attending the party.

She was fined £615 and ordered to pay a £61 victim surcharge.

A host of other Eden residents were also charged with breaching COVID restrictions in separate incidents.

None responded to court papers and all charges were proved in their absences. These were:

Liam Chambers, 21, of Eden Meadows, Temple Sowerby, who breached the coronavirus restrictions on March 17.

This was while the area was under tier four restrictions and Chambers met with three other people in an Audi vehicle at Penrith. He was fined £1,760 and ordered to pay a £176 victim surcharge.

Aaron Saggers, 18, of Garth House, Reagill, breached restrictions on March 19 by meeting with two or more people in a Seat Ibiza at Penrith. He was also fined £1,760 and a £176 victim surcharge.

Thomas Wear, 26, of Brunswick Road, Penrith, was landed with a £2,200 fined and ordered to pay a £220 victim surcharge after he was convicted of breaching restrictions by meeting with others in a Volvo vehicle at Penrith on February 24.

Christopher Turnbull-Allen,35, oof Westgarth Court, Kirkby Stephen, was charged with breaching restrictions at Kirkby Stephen on February 28 when he met with another person in an Audi TT at Market Street. He was fined £1,760 and a £176 victim surcharge.

Caitlin Tamara Watson, 20, of Lady Anne Drive, Brough, was found outside of her home address meeting with two or more people at a flat in Heron Grove, Appleby, on 3rd April. Magistrates fined Watson £1,760 and a £176 victim surcharge.

All defendants were also ordered to pay court costs of £85 each.
