There’s just no stopping West Cumbrian racer Dan Bewley at the moment as he comes to the end of his best ever season in speedway.
Maryport-based Bewley helped Great Britain complete a memorable week with a narrow 36-35 win over Poland in yesterday’s Test Match at Glasgow.
Speedway of Nations winner Bewley top-scored for the Lions with 11 points from four rides with skipper Robert Lambert and late call-up Chris Harris both scoring eight.
Double World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik scored 8+1 for the Poles, with the meeting abandoned three races short of a full conclusion due to rain.
British Champion Adam Ellis and Poland’s Dominik Kubera were both withdrawn with dislocated shoulders following a crash in the first attempt to run Heat 13.
Speedway of Nations winners Bewley and Tom Brennan will both be back at Belle Vue on Saturday for the season-ending Peter Craven Memorial.
The two 2021 Aces stars will be joined by former club captain Max Fricke, who missed out on Premiership racing this year.
An impressive line-up includes Belle Vue legend Jason Crump, league title winner Chris Harris, fast-rising German youngster Norick Blodorn and three other current Aces – ex-Workington rider Charles Wright, Brady Kurtz and Jye Etheridge.
Director of speedway Mark Lemon said: “We’re coming to the end of the season now, and what a year it has been for this great club and for our sport.
“We’re thrilled to have such a strong line-up for the Peter Craven Memorial this year, when we celebrate the life and legacy of one of the biggest icons of Belle Vue.
“Dan and Tom make their first appearance at the National Speedway Stadium as world champions, and fans finally get to see Jason Crump in competitive action for the first time this season.”
