A new scheme aims to help business leaders to overcome challenges and adapt to the uncertain world around them.

Cumbria Business Growth Hub’s Cumbria Growth Leader aims to provide the opportunity for senior decision makers to identify fresh thinking solutions, build leadership skills for the future and create a roadmap built around a clear sense of purpose.

The workshop enables participants to work with others in virtual, small groups to learn through activity, reflection and consideration.

They will also explore fresh perspectives of leadership, develop plans and strategies to accelerate leadership and learn and be able to instantly apply relevant tools and techniques. Each session is delivered and supported by expert facilitators and Growth Hub advisers Julie Housby of Winning Juice, and Sarah Stables of Stables & Co.

This is delivered in three short, sharp bursts, with 3 online workshops on Friday November 12, Wednesday December 1 and Thursday December 14.

The first session, Fresh Thinking Leadership, will apply new ways of thinking, look at challenges and opportunities with fresh perspective and practice fresh thinking tools and techniques.

The second session, White Water Leadership, will explore the requirements of leadership in the context of uncertainty and change and develop white water leadership skills.

The third and final session, Leading into the Future, will explore and create a vision for business, determine the requirements of leadership and determine the key steps needed to lead into the future.

Suzanne Caldwell, managing director of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and Cumbria Business Growth Hub, said: “I’m really excited about this great new initiative that we’re able to bring to Cumbria’s businesses.

“It’s just what’s needed to help people running small and medium sized businesses in the county address the challenges facing them and take their businesses forward. We all need a boost sometimes and this format and content delivers that. To be honest I’d love to be able to book on myself!”

Julie Housby of Winning Juice has worked with over 1,500 leaders and teams across the UK, Europe, USA and India. She said: “Today’s complex environment requires leaders who can face an uncertain world with a steady hand, an inspiring vision, an ability to adapt and to lead with an authentic presence.

“We have designed this series specifically to help business leaders discover a fresh perspective accelerate their leadership effectiveness and reconnect with their purpose and vision.”

The Cumbria Growth Leader initiative is funded through Cumbria Business Growth Hub and Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, and is open to senior leaders and decision makers from eligible companies based in Cumbria.

To benefit fully, it is recommended that all three sessions are attended. Places are limited to one per business.
