Two youngsters were arrested last night as part of a police operation to tackle anti-social behaviour in Workington and Maryport.
During the operation officers were subject to verbal abuse and saw two boys causing damage to Christmas lights on Murray Road in Workington.
Both were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public order.
Officers also assisted in the arrest of a 36-year-old woman, she was arrested on suspicion of theft.
Officers also issued three It’s Your Choice form – These forms are used to ensure we update parents on the behaviour of their children for those offences that fall below criminal.
These result in letters being sent home, home visits and intervention work to try and change behaviours.
Sergeant Scott Adam, of Cumbria police, said “We have still seen a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour and are continuing to run these operations to tackle the issues.
“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated by the police and partners. It creates a blight in society, negatively affecting individuals, their wider families, and whole communities.
“Parents can all support this by asking where their children are going, we would also encourage the public to continue to report anti-social behaviour as this is the best way to direct resources to the right areas to combat these incidents.
“Anyone with any information regarding anti-social behaviour is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Anti-social behaviour is an issue the neighbourhood policing teams have been working on in recent weeks following multiple reports of youths causing issues in the town centres.
The operation includes engaging with local shops and entertainment venues.
