A luxury homes development in the Lake District has been given the green light.

A luxury homes development in the Lake District has been given the green light.

The Cavendish Court development will be located at 133-139 Stricklandgate, Kendal and it will house one-bed and two-bed apartments designed with holidaymakers and professionals in mind.

Following approval by South Lakeland District Council, the development will officially get underway later this year and is expected to complete in the spring/summer of 2022.

James Brecknock, director of OHC Property Group, the developer, said: “I’m delighted that we have the permissions in place to commence construction later this year. Thanks go to South Lakeland District Council for their conscientious approach during the application process and our design team for their determination and vision which helped ascertain the various approvals.”

Maintaining and promoting the existing heritage of the property was a key priority for OHC Property Group during the planning process and the firm and South Lakeland District Council were able to ensure that the new housing does not demolish key parts of the properties original charm and character.

Brecknock added: “Careful consideration was taken during the design stage to preserve much of the existing building and courtyard and provide a contemporary and elegant development.

“Kendal is a special place with picturesque countryside close by, great amenities and a growing and eclectic range of retailers, restaurants and bars. The development is proving popular, and we look forward to welcoming residents into their new homes in 2022.

“The Kendal Town Centre residential market is growing and if you spend some time in the town and the neighbouring area it is easy to see why.”
