A convicted sex offender who flouted the terms of a strict order he was given by a judge for previous offending has been jailed.
William Walker, 56, was punished in 2018 for offences involving indecent images of children, and the possession of extreme pornography which featured animals — including dogs and a squid.
Walker received a prison sentence and was made subject to the stringent terms of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) which was put in place to restrict his online use.
However, Walker was back in trouble as officers from the west Cumbria sex offender management unit made an unannounced visit to his home.
After he allowed them to see his mobile phone, it emerged that internet history had been deleted.
In addition, Walker, of Newlands Lane South, Workington, was in possession of an Amazon fire stick which was connected to his television but had not been declared to police — also in breach of the order.
He admitted twice flouting the SHPO. His lawyer, Sean Harkin, told Judge Richard Archer: “He would say he wasn’t searching for anything he shouldn’t.”
Judge Archer gave Walker — who appeared at court over a video link from custody — a total immediate prison sentence of six months.
