Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A596.

Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision on the A596 in Wigton at about 3.35pm on Wednesday.

The crash involved an Audi A1 and a Kia Carens.

The driver of the Audi and a passenger, both in their 80s from Carlisle, were taken to Cumberland Infirmary with serious injuries.

The driver of the Kia, a woman in her 50s from Maryport, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash and request they contact Cumbria police by calling 101 or online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit, quoting incident number 122 of November 10.
