It was round two of the Cumberland Cup for five of the County League sides with quarter final places up for grabs.

Pirelli enjoyed a comfortable 7-1 win at Gosforth including four goals from Alex Bell, two from Jordan Atkinson and one from James Earl. The Gosforth consolation was from Joe Dorgan.

Workington Athletic also progressed with an impressive 5-0 win at home to Aspatria.

Former Gretna and Penrith striker Kevin Connelly scored twice with others added by Tommy Whitehead, Connor Hammell and Macauley Sharp.

Cockermouth were not so lucky as they lost 4-0 at Westmorland League side Wetheriggs.

In another tie at the weekend Kirkoswald had a comfortable 9-0 win over Eden United.

Holders Carlisle United and Workington are already through, while two second round ties are still to be played.

Cleator Moor Celtic entertain Keswick tomorrow night while a week tomorrow there’s a big tie in prospect when Carlisle City host Windscale – both have excellent recent form figures.
