A group of golfers in Workington have donated £1,000 to local end of life care charity Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Ellis Park Golf Society has supported many local charities over the years through their charity fund which is built up each year by the 32 players paying ‘fines’ imposed during their games.
The ‘fines’ are paid by players for things such as losing a ball, a ball landing in water, not parring a par 3 and other faux pas.
The donation was presented to the charity’s Fundraising and Communications Team Leader, Stella Walsh at a recent presentation evening in the towns Ellis Sports Ground.
Stella Walsh, from Hospice at Home West Cumbria said: “We would like to thank everyone from the club for choosing to support our charity and donating such a fantastic amount to our cause”.
Luke Johnston, Chairman of the golf society said: “We like to support local charities as we know the money we raise stays in our local community and benefits our members friends and families”.
