After 18 months of not singing, members of north Cumbrian choir Solway Singers are delighted to be back together.
They are rehearsing for their Christmas concert on Saturday December 11 at Lanercost Priory.
It will be the choir’s musical director’s final concert after 17 years at the helm.
Anthony Peacock, a former professional singer, is retiring from the role.
For this final programme Reflections at Christmastime, he has chosen a selection of music which is not only seasonal but also thoughtful.
In particular Faure’s Requiem offers a tribute to all those who have died because of coronavirus, either directly or because of the strain on the NHS. Part of the proceeds from the concert will go to Eden Valley Hospice.
But the choir promises that there will also be plenty of Christmas cheer in the programme with traditional carols and modern Christmas pieces.
Tickets cost £15, to include refreshments, and are available from members of the choir or from Janet Madden, choir chair, on 07789 263605.
