Two second-half goals from Forest Green hotshot Matty Stevens condemned Barrow to another defeat.
There had been little between the two sides in the first half, and probably Barrow had the better chances.
Certainly manager Mark Cooper, on his return to New Lawn, would have felt encouraged by another solid defensive performance when he gave his interval talk.
His hopes were dented, though, on 61 minutes when Ben Stevenson’s accurate corner was headed beyond Farman by Stevens.
But the three points weren’t sealed until the 83rd minute when substitute Jack Aitcheson linked with Jamille Matt to put in Stevens who finished with aplomb for his 14th goal of the season.
That’s exactly the type of player Cooper has needed for Barrow and he will be trying desperately in January to find the man who can help stop the Bluebirds’ slide down the table.
Cooper had to make a late change to his line-up after Connor Brown was forced to withdraw from the starting eleven and Remeao Hutton was brought in.
There wasn’t much in terms of goalmouth action in the first-half. James Jones did get an effort on target but it was comfortably taken by keeper Luke McGee.
Patrick Brough delivered a superbly whipped cross through the six yard box with Josh Gordon only inches away from the touch which would have sent it goalwards.
Offrande Zanzala got on the ends of a long ball from James Jones but his glancing header went just wide of the target.
Barrow went closest through a mistake by Dom Bernard, whose header back went past his keeper McGee and was rolling towards goal when the defender got back to clear.
Just before the break Barrow’s lack of a predatory, goal poacher was evident again when another low ball across the six-yard box just needed a touch b ut there was nobody there.
Forest Green’s best effort came from Nicky Cadden with a thumping drive which Farman did well to turn round the post.
There was much more urgency from Forest Green after the interval, and they started to look more like League leaders.
After Stevens’ opening goal he could have had a quick second but seemed to lose his bearings and put his effort the wrong side of the post.
Barrow hadn’t seriously threatened before Stevens added his second on 83 minutes and there was not even the chance of a consolation goal before the finish.
