Cumbria is now below the national average for its coronavirus infection rate as new figures show there are still 11 areas above the England average.

Cumbria is now below the national average for its coronavirus infection rate as new figures show there are still 11 areas above the England average.

The Public Health England data, which shows the number of new cases for the week ending November 18, shows Cumbria has a case rate of 344.4 per 100,000.

The England average is 421 per 100,000. There were 1,721 new cases in the county during that period.

Here is a list of the areas with case rates above the England average. The number of new cases is accompanied by the rate per 100,000 in brackets:

A darker colour indicates a higher coronavirus infection rate
  • Askam & Dalton North – 54 (868.6 per 100,000)
  • Kingmoor, Houghton & Whiteclosegate – 66 (632.9 per 100,000)
  • Carlisle Belah – 43 (611.6 per 100,000)
  • Grange-over-Sands & Cartmel Peninsula – 45 (551.6 per 100,000)
  • Wetheral, Corby & Geltsdale – 48 (540.8 per 100,000)
  • Egremont & Moor Row – 40 (516.1 per 100,000)
  • Aspatria & Abbeytown – 41 (486.8 per 100,000)
  • Mirehouse, Kells & Woodhouse – 45 (453 per 100,000)
  • Workington North & Seaton – 41 (449.9 per 100,000)
  • Orsmgill & Hindpool – 28 (428.5 per 100,000)
  • Hensingham, Hillcrest & Aikbank – 42 (424.8 per 100,000)
