Students at Furness College will now benefit from the latest specialist computing technology after the college became a member of the Oracle Academy.
The college, which has campuses at Channelside and Rating Lane, signed up with the global platform which helps bring the latest technologies to educators to pass on to their students.
The online academy helps upskill lecturers and ensure core computing knowledge and skills are aligned to the most recent industry standards so students are ready for the workplace.
Simon Withey, lecturer in computer science at Furness College said, it will benefit not only computing students but those on programmes including HR, project management, business and IT.
“We are delighted to link up with Oracle to ensure our educational resources are up to speed with the latest technology – including software, cloud technology and practice environments – and fit with industry requirements.
“Being part of this programme will help increase staff knowledge, skills development, innovation, and diversity in technology fields and bring this to the classroom.”
