Whitehaven Amateurs were able to register their second away win of the season in the West Lancashire League.
On a day when their county neighbours in other League structures were frustrated by the weather, Whitehaven were able to play their game at Slyne with Hest.
Reece Pearce had put the hosts ahead on 30 minutes but Bobby Carter levelled just before the break.
It was Carter who grabbed his second on 75 minutes to earn all three points for the West Cumbrians.
The big Cumbrian derby in North West Counties Division One North between Holker Old Boys and Cleator Moor Celtic was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
The Old Boys still lead the table, however, a point clear of both Bury AFC and Golcar. Title favourites Bury, who lost 4-1 at Abbey Hey in the FA Vase, have one League game in hand.
Celtic remain 13th in the table, now five points clear of the relegation zone after battling their way out of it over the last few weeks.
Meanwhile in the Northern League both Cumbrian clubs were left without a game as the weather proved to be the winner.
In Division One Penrith’s trip to Sunderland Ryhope was aborted while in Division Two Carlisle City’s home clash with Willington was also called off.
Penrith remain bottom but are level on points with the two sides immediately above them, Bishop Auckland and Northallerton, with a game in hand on each.
City are down to ninth in Division Two but with games in hand of every team ahead of them – six in one case – and four on leaders Heaton Stannington who have pulled away from the rest.
The featured pictures by Elwyn Evans were taken at the match of the day in the West Cumbria Youth League for Under-16s in which visitors Cleator Moor Celtic beat Workington Reds 4-1.
A strong wind and persistent rain tried its best to spoil the game but both sides produced some neat football with slick passing moves.
Celtic went into a 2-0 lead with goals from Ethan Thornton and Will Dorgan before the Reds pulled one back direct from a free kick by Cameron Cosby . It stayed at 2-1 until half-time.
The became a bit sloppy when play resumed and Celtic had to defend stoutly as Reds tried to turn the screw, playing some decent football.
It was Celtic, however, who weathered the storm and when they had settled into their rhythm again scored two further goals by Thornton and a well-struck volley from defender Ethan Smith.
