A South Cumbrian community bus service has been awarded £500.

Friends of the X112 community transport group has been given the cash by Low Furness district councillor Ben Cooper from his member’s allowance, which can be awarded to good causes in their area.

Councillors have a total of £1,000 to give out and Coun Cooper is asking people for their suggestions for a group to be given the remaining £500.

Coun Cooper said: “There are so many fantastic charities and community projects doing great things across Low Furness.

“The Friends of X112 group are doing amazing work in running their own community bus services and helping to keep our communities connected.

“Local councillors are elected to champion people’s priorities, so I want to hear from residents on where they think the next £500 grant should be awarded. This is a great chance for people to get in touch and really shape the future of our villages and communities with this funding.”

Applications for this grant funding will close at the end of February. Residents can have their say and contact Coun Cooper via email at [email protected]
