People are urged to volunteer to help conserve the Lake District’s environment.
Landscape charity Friends of the Lake District has organised 44 events across the county in 2022 from dry stone walling to gorse control and is asking people to get involved.
Jan Darrall, land manager at Friends of the Lake District, said: “What better way to start a new year than by joining us in the fresh air to help the environment on one of our work parties?
“There is something for everyone as we have land stretching from Threlkeld in the north to Kendal in the south, and from Broughton in Furness in the west, to Little Asby near Orton in the east.
“Tasks range from helping in our woodlands through to learning how to build dry stone walls, or help plant meadow plants to help our pollinators. It’s a great way to meet new friends and our famous array of workparty cakes will be on offer.”
