Workington will have Steven Rigg back in the squad for tonight’s trip to City of Liverpool.
Rigg had to pull out of the home game with Glossop North End ten days ago when he felt unwell during the warm-up.
He was taken to hospital, and had follow-up tests before being diagnosed with pleurisy.
Manager Chris Willcock said: “I’m happy to say he has responded well to treatment and is ok to rejoin the squad tonight.
“Otherwise it will be unchanged and that’s something I haven’t been able to say for a considerable time.”
Keswick-based Rigg, 29, the former Penrith, Carlisle Utd, Gateshead and Dover forward has been a hard-working member of Willcock’s team used either in mid-field or up-front.
Reds go into the game on the back of a fine 4-2 win at 1874 Northwich on Saturday which took them back to the top of the NPL West.
Hosts City of Liverpool are tenth but on Saturday they had an excellent 2-0 home win over Runcon Linnets, who if they had won would have been five points behind Reds with a game in hand.
Although, through one reason or another, they have only played twice since December 4, they have only lost twice in ten home games.
They have also a home win to their name against Leek Town, considered strong outsiders in the title race with so many home games left.
It is a potential banana skin for the Reds, despite their good run of results and Willcock knows his side will have to perform well after the lengthy mid-week trip.
But one player who won’t be back in the squad, although he watched the win at Northwich, is forward Nico Evangelinos.
“He’s really disappointed because every time he tries to get playing again and contribute the old injury flares up.
“Until he gets the results of a scan this week he doesn’t know what’s needed. It might need an operation but it has really been a frustrating season for him.”
Without Evangelinos and Scott Allison, two of the highest-scoring forwards in the League over the last two years, Reds have still scored 48 goals.
That’s a tally topped by only three clubs, Warrington Rylands (56), Bootle (50) and Runcorn Linnets (49).
The League’s top three are all in action tonight for as well as Reds playing at City of Liverpool, Rylands go to Colne and Marine entertain Mossley.
