Free monthly webinars are to be held aimed at helping businesses with issues such as staff shortages and the ongoing effects of Brexit on importing and exporting.
While sharing knowledge and information will not resolve all the issues alone, it can help.
So Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is starting a series of free monthly webinars covering a range of issues to enable all businesses in the county to access important information at no cost and begin to bridge the knowledge gap.
The first, on February 9, will be an export update with expert Mark Rowbotham of Portcullis, discussing the most recent changes to export rules and what businesses need to be aware of to ensure they’re compliant.
The next, on March 2, will be on employee sponsorship and recruiting migrant workers, exploring alternative routes to recruitment with expert Amy Sergison, employee solicitor from Muckle LLP.
Eve Halliday, Business Growth Manager said: “As a Chamber of Commerce we’re constantly speaking with businesses, and it’s apparent, regardless of the sector, they often face similar issues.
“It seems like the perfect time to start with an export session as there has been some crucial changes that businesses need to be aware of, it also gives a bit of a taster for those thinking about moving into international markets, which is something the chamber can help with.
“Many are also struggling with staff shortages, and with the employee sponsorship webinar we wanted to hold something so those who may have heard about it can get some practical guidance rather than trying to make sense of what’s online.
“We’re here to support Cumbrian businesses and we’ve made these sessions free for all so they can understand the breadth of knowledge that’s available through the chamber.”
