Awards celebrating the best of Cumbria’s tourism industry are set to return this year after a three-year absence.
The search is now on for the stars of the county’s hospitality businesses to vie for 16 categories in the Cumbria Tourism Awards.
Tourism-related businesses have five weeks from today until 5pm on Friday March 11 to enter one or more of the categories and share their achievements from the last 12 months.
Finalists will be chosen by an independent panel of tourism experts and will have the chance to walk the red carpet at a VIP awards ceremony, at Castle Green Hotel in Kendal on Wednesday July 6.
Eligible winners in some categories will automatically feed into the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023, for the chance to gain national recognition.

Managing director of Cumbria Tourism, Gill Haigh, said: “So much has happened since the last Cumbria Tourism Awards in 2019, but at the same time, we have so much to celebrate! The sheer resilience, innovation and adaptability of our county’s tourism sector is immense.
“I feel so incredibly proud of the way businesses have found new ways to succeed over the past couple of years, working together to develop new products and services; finding new creative solutions to overcome the complex practical challenges they’ve faced; and above all, always putting high quality customer experiences at the heart of what they do.
“The Cumbria Tourism Awards is all about celebrating our industry and the hardworking businesses who have continued to forge ahead in some of the most challenging circumstances anyone could have ever imagined. It will be a privilege to bring businesses together this July to mark their achievements and I have no doubt the judges will have a very tough task on their hands to choose the ultimate winners.”
Full details about how to enter can be found at www.cumbriatourism.org/awards. Businesses do not need to be a member of Cumbria Tourism to apply.
