Warrington Town chairman Toby Macormac has hit back at Carlisle United’s decision to take back Lewis Bell before his loan spell had ended.
The 19-year-old winger has only featured for half a game with the NPL Premier Division side and is returning to Carlisle with another 10 days still to run on the arrangement.
United manager Keith Millen told the News and Star it was annoying and said: “If they’re not going to use him I don’t want him going there – there’s no point.
“He’s been training with us this week. But he can’t be involved with us until the loan’s finished.
”He has ten days, something like that, left on the loan. That won’t be happening again.”
But McCormac, also the chief executive at Warrington and an experienced football administrator took to Twitter to make his point to highly respected Carlisle United writer Jon Colman, who wrote the article.
McCormac said: “Not as annoying as how incorrect the narrative on it is.
“Sometimes loans don’t work out for a number of reasons so why not just say that instead of painting a picture of my club.
“There’s many things I could say but let’s say he wasn’t recalled after he was subbed at half-time on Saturday.”
That was against Grantham and Bell wasn’t included in Tuesday night’s squad for the game with Nantwich. Previously he had been an unused sub in two League games against title chasing South Shields and Whitby Town.
Warrington are chasing a play-off place for promotion to National North and have recently appointed former Carlisle defender David Raven as assistant manager.
