Workington’s Uppies took the win in the mass no rules football game – meaning the final game of the series leaves everything to play for.

Uppies and Downies, which dates back hundreds of years, sees two halves of the town pitted against each other in three games over Easter.

The latest game saw Jamie Friel hail the ball at Workington Hall for the Uppies, following on from Downie Aaron Lancaster’s win on Good Friday.

It means the last game, on Saturday, is the decider for the 2022 series.

It was a hard fought match and Uppies pulled out all the stops to make sure they secured the victory.
