Barrow slipped to a 30-18 home defeat to in-form York City Knights in front of the TV cameras.
They had plenty of pressure in the second-half but couldn’t find enough to turn the game round.
It could hardly have started better as the Raiders went in front on six minutes. Some fluent passing paved the way for Anton Iaria to crash over for the opening try which Jarrod Sammut converted.
Unfortunately an error put York level within three minutes when a wild pass was picked up by Joe Brown and he out-paced the home defence to score. Liam Harris converted.
On 21 minutes heavy York pressure paid off when Will Oakes had enough space on the left to get over for the try.
It was ebb and flow, though, at this stage and on 27 minutes Barrow regained the lead. A clever grubber kick by Sammut was followed-up by Luke Cresswell who made the touchdown. Sammut converted.
In the last nine minutes of the half, however, York turned the game round by scoring two more tries to take a 22-12 lead into the break.
On 31 minutes York just hacked-on a loose ball and in a desperate chase Marsh was first there to make the touchdown just before it rolled dead. Harris converted.
Then a minute before the interval Jordan Thompson crashed over for a fourth York try, to which Harris added the extras. Initially Barrow did all the attacking on the resumption but despite heavy pressure on the York line they couldn’t get over.
When York finally did get some field position themselves Harris finished off with a try and a conversion.
Seven minutes from the end the visitors had an extra cushion when Harris kicked a penalty after a high tackle.
Barrow did have the final word with a try by Gary Wheeler, converted by Sammut three minutes from time but it was too little too late.
