James Telford goes to Tynedale with all good wishes from the Carlisle club.

Carlisle’s Cumbria county scrum-half James Telford is moving next season to play for Tynedale.

Telford was with Cumbria for the final County Championship game against Warwickshire on Saturday and missed the Carlisle presentation night.

In his absence his mother Jackie was presented with a shirt from the Carlisle club in appreciation of his efforts throughout his career as he’d come through the age group ranks.

Telford was club captain in the season just ended and sees the move to Tynedale who play in National Two North as a step-up and a chance to further his career. He leaves with thanks and all good wishes from the Carlisle club.

It wasn’t the only shirt being handed out on the night as the club also marked the retirements of two senior players, Chris Auld and Dan Holmes.

Auld has been first XV captain, while long-serving Holmes is hanging up his boots through injury and is to move into coaching with the club’s Colts.

The Colts Awards were presented by Mike Rawling as follows: Coaches Player of the Year, Luca Feghali; Most Improved Player, Henry Longworth and Players’ Player of the Year, Freddie Rawling.

The Senior Men’s Awards were presented by Sam Meakin: Coaches Player of the Year, Dan Holmes; Most Improved Player of the Year, Vince Lung; Players’ Player of the Year, Vince Lung.

The Senior Women’s Awards were presented by Max Connon: Coaches Player of the Year, Emma Copeland; Most Improved Player of the Year, Alex Jefferson; Players’ Player of the Year, Steph Musgrave.

The Mike Bewley award for services to the Club was presented by director of rugby, Jimmy Goode to George Telford for all his work in the past with the Youth section and helping behind the scenes for senior rugby.

The Barry Israel award was presented to Bill Glendinning in recognition of his services to the club.

The evening was compered by president Sue Glendinning and Jimmy Goode.
