Two people have been killed after a helicopter crashed in a field on the Cumbrian border.
Emergency services were called to the incident, off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale, close to the Lancashire border, shortly before noon today, Monday, June 20.
There was not believed to be anyone else on board the helicopter.
North Yorkshire police said a full investigation was underway into the cause.
There is a full road closure at the A65 and at the junction of Bentham Moor Road and people were urged by police to continue to avoid the area.
