Carlisle shone under the Edenside lights as they grafted a narrow win over Wigton in the Cumbria League’s T20 competition.
The city side won by seven runs in front of 1,000-plus spectators in a memorable night for the club.
Secretary Mark Davidson said: “It was a brilliant night for the club and the game of cricket. Everything went well and the game itself was a tight one.
“There was a real feel good factor about the whole night and it’s something we will definitely be looking to repeat.”
Carlisle batted first and got off to a lively start with Tom Benn (29) dominating an opening stand of 34 with Marc Brown before he was out in the fifth over.
Brown (15) followed in the next over before skipper and pro Michael Slack (36) and Alex Raybould (27) added 44 for the third wicket in seven overs.
Carlisle were eventually bowled out on the first ball of the 20th over for 121.
John Reed (3-15) and Chris Hodgson (3-22) were the main bowlers for Wigton.
Although making a slow start, reaching 28-2 after eight overs, Wigton were rallied by Lewis Little (38) and Kieran Little (35).
They put on 53 for the third wicket and then with four overs left the visitors needed 27 to win.
Some tight bowling, however, from Carlisle saw only five runs scored in two overs and in the end Wigton could manage only 114-7.
Nico Watt, a former Wigton player, had the best bowling return for Carlisle of 2-19.
The other game in the west group had to be abandoned with a point apiece.
Egremont had made 4-0 off just three balls when the rain came and ended their game at Whitehaven.
One of the Egremont batsmen had slipped going for a quick single and the umpires decided it was unsafe to continue.
The Duckworth Lewis system had decided Egremont needed 50 runs to win off eight overs.
The hosts had made 100-9 in their 20 overs with new professional Timycem Maruma top-scoring with 32 off 26 deliveries. The innings included five fours and a six.
For Egremont Coady Scott took 4-14 and Shaun Bostock had 3-20.
Rain also affected the south group clash between Haverigg and Millom which was settled by DLM.
Rain meant Millom should have reached 40 from eight overs in a revised target but were 38-1 when play had to be abandoned.
Haverigg had scored 114-7 led by Jordan Postlethwaite (33), Sachin Jayawardena (25) and Joe Hanvey (24).
Graham Dawson took 2-6 for Millom.
