Bookies have pegged Jacques O’Neill and Paige Thorne are favourites to win ITV2 show Love Island.
Rugby star Jacques, 23, plays for Castleford Tigers – but the club released him from his contract so he could enter the villa earlier this month.
While he would come face-to-face with his ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen, 19, he has developed feelings for the Swansea paramedic Paige.
Sunday night’s episode rounded off a week full of sparks, tension and bombshells in the sun soaked villa.
Jacques and Paige remain the favourites, after last night saw the pair sneak off for a midnight chat. Despite giving Jay the green light to crack on with Paige, Jacques admitted he has ‘never cared’ for anyone but her.
Although fans on social media are throwing Jacques’ genuineness into question, UK bookmakers William Hill have faith in the couple, pricing them at 6-4 to win.
There’s only a week left on Love Island and William Hill has released the odds on the possible winners.
Top five couples to win Love Island 2022
- Jacques & Paige (6-4)
- Dami & Indiyah (10-3)
- Luca & Gemma (7-2)
- Davide & Antigoni (16-1)
- Jay & Paige (18-1)
Tony Kenny, head of sponsorship PR at William Hill, said: “Another week in the villa has gone by and it’s interesting to see just how much the dynamics have changed in just 7 days. Favourites Jacques and Paige still appear to be going strong, despite the Jay-shaped tests thrown their way – although some fans on social media have suspicions.
However, Jacques has been criticised by Remi, who was booted off the show. He claimed Jacques was a bully, who ruined his time in the villa – and claimed a lot of their arguments weren’t screened.
Jacques’ mum Janet Wright went onto social media platform Instagram to say that people sending nasty messages about her son were hurtful.
