Phase two of South Lakeland District Council’s (SLDC’s) redevelopment of its base in Kendal has been completed.

The second part of the project has seen a Kendal Business Hub created at South Lakeland House in Lowther Street – with meeting areas and nine suites for hire.

The work is part of the district council’s £4.9m refurb of South Lakeland House and Kendal Town Hall.

Cllr Robin Ashcroft, SLDC portfolio for economy, culture and leisure, said: “This transformation of South Lakeland House truly demonstrates our commitment to supporting business growth and job creation.

“I would urge anybody who thinks this could be the place for them to take the next step on their business journey to come in and have a look.”

A total of £439,522 in funding was made available for the project from the Government’s Northern Powerhouse initiative. This was distributed through Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Jo Lappin, chief executive of Cumbria LEP, said the new hub would provide additional business space in Kendal and offer flexible arrangements that would ‘help smaller businesses to develop and grow’.
