The Cumbria Combine birds at Guernsey were liberated this morning at 8.30am.
Held over yesterday, the convoyer had been looking at a 7am liberation but it wasn’t quite right to let them go that early.
Weather conditions in the south of England had prevented a release on Saturday when a south wind prevailed.
They were up today in a light west wind, which suggest that fanciers might be looking for arrivals in the south of the county from 4pm.
There are around 350 Cumbrian birds away with around 1,500 pigeons from across the North West.
This will be the third time that the Cumbrian birds have raced from Guernsey this season, a replacement for French racing which has not taken place.
