Football supporters will pay their respects to Clive Middlemass at Borough Park.
Middlemass, 77, who died this week played for Workington Reds and lived in the town for over a decade and later came back to manage Carlisle United for three-and-a-half years.
The two sides are set to meet tomorrow for a friendly.
After almost 200 League and Cup games for Reds, the winger turned mid-fielder, was on the verge of a move to Ipswich when he was seriously injured in a car crash. Despite an attempt to play again he had to hang up his boots.
Middlemass, originally from Sheffield and who was handed his first contract at Leeds, had many friends within the game, special ones too in Workington and Carlisle.
Both sides go into tomorrow’s game on the back of contrasting results. After a 4-1 win at Whitehaven Amateurs, the Reds have lost 3-1 to Blackburn Under-23s and 3-0 to Dumbarton.
United have beaten Penrith 5-1 and Kendal Town 9-0 but expect a tougher work-out against a side managed by their former captain Danny Grainger.
United are likely to include one or two trialists in a big squad which will allow manager Paul Simpson to use two different line-ups in each half.
Grainger has had a good look at a handful of trialists and is likely to be nearing decisions on whether to make them permanent members of his squad. Two of the trialists, full-back Charlie Birch and midfielder Bobby Carroll have already signed deals for the season.
Meanwhile funeral arrangements for the former Workington manager Joe Wojciechowicz have been announced. The man who led Reds to their first trophy after losing their Football League status died recently at the age of 73.
Wojciechowicz’s funeral service will take place at Morecambe Parish Church on Tuesday 12 July at noon followed by interment in Torrisholme Cemetery.
The cortege will call at Morecambe Football Club’s Mazuma Stadium at 11.40am, then will proceed to the church.
