Children can swim for 10p in Cumbria this summer.
Allerdale council has launched its 10p swim scheme for youngsters aged 16 and under at swimming pools in Workington and Cockermouth’s leisure centres, plus at Wigton Baths.
And sessions are also taking place in Keswick’s Derwentwater as part of a half-day holiday programme of outdoor activities.
Councillor Jim Lister, Allerdale council’s executive member with responsibility for sports development, said: “I’m delighted to see the return swimming activities over the summer months. The 10p swims sessions have particularly proved incredibly popular over the years.
“One of the council’s priorities is to improve the health of wellbeing of our communities and the scheme makes this possible for many children across Allerdale.”
The 10p swimming sessions are only available to Allerdale residents.
Normal pool adult to child supervision ratios apply at the swim sessions and entry may be denied if the maximum number of bathers are reached.
