Lowther Castle is thrilled to announce the opening of the Dragons’ Lair – a major extension to the existing lost castle adventure playground.

Dragonistas, prepare yourselves for tunnels, slides, crawl-throughs, turrets, spooky corners and heaps of new excitements.

In recent years, Lowther Castle & Gardens has become one of the Lake District’s most popular and prominent visitor attractions.

Its gardens have acquired a worldwide horticultural following with the new Rose Garden – designed in the shape of a briar rose and based on the Sleeping Beauty myth – a particular draw.

Excellent freshly cooked food is served in the café, an exhibition tells The Story of Lowther and all in all, the place offers a great day out for all the family. Dogs welcome.

Please, please book online, say the organisers. It makes a great difference to everyone, visitors included.

Lowther Castle & Gardens are open every day 10am to 5pm (summer) and 10am to 4pm (winter) with last entry one hour before closing.

Book online for Lowther Castle attractions – including the lost castle – here
