Cleator Moor Celtic start competitive life under new manager Brian Dawson with a trip to Keighley to take on Steeton.
Dawson is really looking forward to the challenge, as the former Barrow and Workington forward leads his new club into the North West Counties League. He had been in charge of the Workington Reds Development side and both he and his assistant Craig Routledge left to join Celtic.
He says: “We’re really looking forward to getting started. It’s been a long time coming since we agreed to come into the club.
“The boys have trained well and results have been ok in pre-season. There’s been a lot of work gone into getting our ideas across to the lads.
“Hopefully we can hit the ground running and come back with the three points from Steeton.
“It will be a tough ask because most teams in our League are stronger at home but we go there with confidence.
“Squad-wise we are missing several players through one reason or another but that’d what squads are for and we can’t use that as an excuse.
“we’ve been made to feel very welcome by everyone at the club. They’ve really supported us so hopefully we can repay them with a good start.”
