Despite the lure of good prize money Thursday’s HTA trails at Ings were not well supported.
Only 14 hounds were slipped in the three races as clearly owners and trainers were keeping their hounds for Saturday’s Premier Trails.
The seniors went to Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess who finished in front of Colin Satterthwaite’s duo, Thorn Crackle and Thorn Pop; They were the only three out of six starters who finished.
Brian, Joy and Cathy Lister’s Dream Catcher repeated her win from Ambleside Sports a week earlier when she led in Thorn Lightening, the only two of four to finish the pups.

The four entered for the open maiden all got round with Christine Brownlee’s Monsoon finishing ahead of Howgill Meg and Shiraz.
The weather forecast for Saturday is good so there should be some good racing in prospect at the HTA Premier Trails being staged at Birkett Field, Threlkeld.
The course hasn’t been used since before COVID and there are very good views of the hounds on the open fell.

The seniors get proceedings under way at 1pm and that trail is followed by: Maidens, Pups, Puppy Maidens, Open Restricted and Veteran.
