A pet owner has been left distraught after her dog went missing while they were on a Lake District walk.
Alex Hodgson, 22, was on a camping holiday with 16-month-old Apollo, and when the pair went for a walk, the sprocker spaniel caught a scent at the top of Haystacks and vanished.
He does have a GPS tracker, but the signal dropped while they out and has not registered since.
Alex, who said Apollo was her best friend, hasn’t stopped looking since.
She said: “We’ve explored the Ennerdale valley and I’ve been out once or twice a day since to try and find him. He means absolutely everything to me. He’s the first dog I’ve had on my own and he really helps me with my mental health.”
Alex, of Doncaster, was due to go home yesterday, but stayed an extra day to continue the search. She has gone home today, but plans to return tomorrow to carry on.
She said: “I’ve not slept properly or eaten properly since, so I thought it was a good idea to come back to recharge my batteries. The plan is to go out tomorrow with a barbecue and sausages and bacon to see if that tempts him from where ever he is. He’s a greedy boy so we’re hoping that will work.”
Apollo’s picture has been shared across social media and Alex is hopeful that someone will spot her best friend.
Apollo, who is brown, is wearing a red collar with a light brown tracker with ID tag. Anyone who spots him is urged to call Alex on 07367338810.
