A Lake District automotive brand is backing a new Whitehaven festival.

Porsche Centre South Lakes has been announced as the exclusive automotive partner of Whitehaven Alive.

Whitehaven Alive takes place on September 9 and 10 and will include a free to attend event village for all to enjoy, and the town will also play host to platinum-selling pop rock band Scouting For Girls and radio legend Chris Moyles, who are headlining the evening concerts across the weekend.

Simon Parker, centre principal said: “Porsche Centre South Lakes is extremely proud to be a partner of the inaugural Whitehaven Alive festival.

“My family has lived and been a part of the Cumbrian community for over a century, and we are proud to show our support for this great celebration in the north of the region.”

Porsche Centre South Lakes has been established for over six decades and has recently moved to a new larger centre on the M6.

Simon added: “Whitehaven Alive will cater to the local community while at the same time putting Whitehaven on the map to a new audience, which is what really drew us to become a partner to what we hope will become a mainstay event in the county.

“We hope by adding our Porsche branding to the event, it will help the Whitehaven Alive festival get coverage far and wide, making Whitehaven a ‘go to’ destination for music, food and the arts today and in the future.”

The premium car company will attend with some of its flagship vehicles and will be keen to not only showcase their cars, but also talk to the public about the future and developments.

One of the festival’s directors, Oliver Hodgson, said: “We’re tremendously grateful for the support of Porsche Centre South Lakes. Their backing is reassurance that we’ve got a great concept and event to look forward to next month.

“Having such a respected family-owned brand connected with the event is such a coup, and it allows us to offer another vertical to our programme – we’re not just catering to the foodies of the area but also those who love a bit of car spotting, and it adds value to our brand.

“We’re excited to build and develop this relationship as the brand and festival grows.”

Porsche Centre South Lakes will be take centre stage on the quayside of Whitehaven Harbour, amongst the food and drink vendors, accompanied by a Ferris wheel, street entertainment, and other attractions.

Co-festival director, Andrea Winders, added: “The aim of Whitehaven Alive is to celebrate the local area, enjoy the weekend of entertainment, and a look forwards to a bright future.

“In celebrating with us Porsche Centre South Lakes is showing its commitment to the area and the future.”
