Borrowdale Banksy’s latest comeback slate sculpture has been dismantled, walkers have confirmed.

A pair of experienced female fell walkers have identified the site of the new artwork after two attempts to find it and analysis of the published photos.

But upon arrival, the duo found the sculpture had been carefully dismantled, with the slate neatly piled up nearby.

The images captured of the missing artwork show the base of the structure and the piles of slate.

The identity of the artist is still unknown, although the complex nature of the designs and the skill required to create the free-standing circles from thin slabs of local slate suggest he or she is a professional.

The Lake District National Park Authority have confirmed again that while it was aware of the work, the artist responsible remained a mystery.

If you know who made the structure, we’d love to hear from you! Contact us at [email protected]
