Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle drove into a row of houses in Whitehaven.
The incident, at Ribton Moor Side, Hensingham, happened just after 6.50am today, September 11.
Residents believe the truck was at least 7.5 tonnes. One said: “It came over the kerbing, scraped several buildings, and took out a cast iron downpipe and a chunk out of our window frame. A gas pipe was also hit, but was not split.
“The bang that it made shook the whole terrace and woke us up. We didn’t have a clue what was going on. It made one hell of a noise but had vanished within a matter of minutes leaving a trail of debris and masonry.”
Police said there were no reported injuries. The resident added: “Fortunately no one walking on the pavement or they’d be seriously injured.”
