West Cumbrian Dan Bewley suffered an exclusion in the last qualifying heat in the Danish Grand Prix which cost him a place in the semi-finals.
The 23-year-old Maryport rider, who had won the previous two Grand Prix in Britain and Poland, broke the tapes as he tried to make a flier.
He probably needed to win that heat 20 to make it into the semi-final after running last in his first race and then picking up a win, second and third.
The Championship leader Bartosz Zmarzlik may just have moved his shoulders in the next gate and Bewley responded by going for a quick start but afterwards he said it was his own mistake.
Zmarzlik, who defied an unfavourable gate position, went on to show his class in winning the final and extends his lead in the title race with two more events to go.
It was a disappointing conclusion for Bewley who had gone into last night’s event as the fastest qualifier. However it doeds not affect his position as he still lies third overall behind Zwarzlik and Leon Madsen.
Fellow Briton Robert Lambert finished second in the final to move fifth just five points behind Bewley.
Rasmus Jensen, who rode for Workington Comets in their last season of competitive speedway in 2018 was a Danish wild card on the night and reached the semi-final where he finished third behind Lambert and Madsen.
