Workington Reds boss Danny Grainger won’t risk anybody in tonight’s FA Trophy tie at home to Runcorn Linnets (ko 7.45pm).
Grainger has a couple of players who picked-up knocks or strains in last Tuesday’s fine 3-0 win at Ramsbottom.
“I want to go as far in this competition as possible but I won’t be playing anybody tonight who isn’t fully fit. We have just come through a busy spell of matches.
“We have had two good performances in our last two games and I want to build on that tonight.
“It won’t be easy because Runcorn will be a test. They get the ball into the box when they can but also get the ball down and play,” said the Reds boss.
Although Reds lost 3-2 in the FA Cup at South Shields it was an excellent performance and they followed it up with their first away win at Ramsbottom.
But Grainger still has to contend with three long-term injuries in Bobby Carroll, Ben Hughes and Greg McCarragher, as well as Robbie Hebson.
“I’m hoping that one or two of them will be available again in the next fortnight to boost the squad,” said Grainger.
Tonight’s FA Trophy game replaces the scheduled NPL West clash with Skelmersdale will be rearranged for later in the season.
Coincidentally Runcorn won 4-1 in their last game a week ago – at Skelmersdale but like Reds they were beaten in the FA Cup, also going out in the north east 2-1 at Marske.
They currently sit third in the NPL West table with 10 points from six games, three more than Reds.
