Areas around Ullswater to face bin collection disruption until December

Waste collection is set to be disrupted for months around Ullswater.

Road closures on the A592 will impact bin and recycling collection in various locations near Ullswater from Tuesday September 20 to Friday December 23.

Eden District Council’s general waste and recycling contractors will aim to carry out collections on the normal scheduled days, but they will take place in the early morning to avoid road closures on planned routes.

The council are asking communities near Ullswater to take their bins and recycling out for collection no later than 5.30am on the scheduled collection day.

Residents will be able to leave their bins out overnight before collection the next morning.

A spokesperson for Eden District Council said, “Our main message is that collections will still take place on the normal day, but that the contractors will be setting out much earlier than normal. As a result we’re asking everyone to have waste and recycling out for 5.30am wherever they are, to make sure it is not missed.”

A letter has been sent out to affected residents from the contractors working on the road to notify them of the works. Eden District Council has also been consulting with parish councils in the affected areas, with the aim of minimising disruption for residents.

Residents who miss a collection can report it through the Council’s website or through their My Account page.
