A Cumbrian MP has called for a permanent memorial to the Queen to be created in Cumbria.
Carlisle MP John Stevenson has written to Cumbria County Council, asking it to consider a permanent memorial for the Queen.
Following the Her Majesty’s funeral and the outpouring of tributes from councils across the county, Mr Stevenson has turned to the public to ask whether a commemorative memorial should be in place and what it should look like if it goes ahead.
Workington MP Mark Jenkinson called the idea a “wonderful tribute.”
Initial ideas for the memorial include a named walk, a piece of woodland, a memorial garden and a statue, but other ideas are also being accepted.
People can have their say and let the MP know their thoughts on the idea by taking part in a short, online consultation.
The consultation can be accessed at www.johnstevensonmp.co.uk/hm-queen-elizabeth-ii-memorial-survey/
