Helen Skelton’s dance partner has urged her to believe in herself and enjoy her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

Helen, who hails from Eden, and her dance partner Gorka Marquez appeared on tonight’s It Takes Two – Strictly’s companion show on BBC Two.

Gorka told presenter Janette Manrara: “She has the potential and I believe she can go far. She was a beautiful dancer on Saturday.

“She needs to believe in herself.”

Helen paid tribute to Gorka as a teacher and as a friend – saying he was incredibly kind.

She spoke about her experiences on the show so far and said being on the dancefloor was like a rollercoaster. She said: “You’re nervous beforehand but then once you get on it, you enjoy it. It’s new to me, being on stage. If you are not a performer, it’s a bit of a hurdle.”

The show screened footage of Gorka pulling Helen round in a trolley as her feet were sore and he said “This is how we travel in Penrith!”

The pair have been in the town all week rehearsing.

This week show will see them dance the cha-cha-cha to Rain on Me and Helen said it had been intense.

She added: “I was desperate to do a fast Latin dance….now I want ballroom.”
