
A man has been found dead after becoming separated from his friends on a Lake District mountain.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue were called out on Saturday October 8 at 9.37pm by police after the man was separated from his friends at the top of Scafell Pike.
The rescue team said the conditions on the peak were windy, cold and misty.
Wasdale, Duddon and Furness mountain rescue teams searched overnight and into the morning without success. The overall search was over 21 hours long.
The walker was found dead in the early afternoon above Dropping Crag and was brought back down into the valley to police.
A spokesman from Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said: “Very many thanks to all who helped. We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.”
Other teams involved with the search efforts included RAF Mountain Rescue Service, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team and search dogs.
