Some good news for Workington Town fans in a week where they lost the services of skipper Jamie Doran and top forward Marcus O’Brien.
Strong-running forward Caine Barnes has re-signed for the club.
Barnes joined Town in December 2018 after he had spent a month on loan during the previous season from Wigan Warriors.
The former Seaton amateur initially joined Town on a year-long loan which eventually turned into a permanent move and although his first two seasons were Covid affected he proved a strong addition to the Town pack.
Now aged 23 Barnes slipped from view towards the end of last season after suffering an injury but new coach Anthony Murray will want him fit and firing for the start of the League One season next year.
The second-rower began his career with Seaton when he was eight years old and was snapped up on an academy scholarship with the Warriors in 2014.He signed a professional contract with Wigan in August 2017.
