Work is continuing on the Lake District’s latest Premier Inn – and the firm is still recruiting for staff.

The new £6 million hotel in Keswick began recruiting in August and said while it had appointed its management team, it was looking for 25 permanent staff.

The new 71-bedroom hotel, on High Hill, is on track to open in December – although no exact date has been revealed.

A series of recruitment events were held by Whitbread, the firm behind the hotel last month, with the last drop-in recruitment event scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, at Keswick Rugby Club.

Karl Hetherington, manager of the new Premier Inn, said: “With autumn upon us we are really pushing on with recruitment for the new Keswick Premier Inn.

“We have already appointed an excellent new management team to run the new hotel with me, and we are now looking for a full team to join us and make our first hotel in the Lake District National Park a roaring success.

“My own experience with Premier Inn shows what’s possible working for the business having joined as a receptionist 10 years ago.”

Construction of the building started in October last year.
