Did you learn to swim in Grange Baths? Did you spend those summer days on the terrace soaking in the rays? Were you brave enough to fling yourself from the highest diving board?
Save Grange Lido is looking for your memories of the former bathing pool for a series of events this autumn.
People are invited to share their stories and memories of the baths. The team are keen to hear from anyone who used to swim in Grange or visit the lido, and also anyone who used to work at the pool or was involved in its running.
SGL is also interested see photos of Grange Baths alongside newspaper clippings and memorabilia which will be photographed and added to the Grange Lido archive.
The free events will be held at the Victoria Hall in Grange on Friday October 28 from noon to 4pm and Saturday November 12 from noon to 4pm. There will also be a cafe serving tea and home-made cakes.
The events are part of a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and they are aimed at supporting the group to develop the Grange lido archive.
As part of the project, Save Grange Lido volunteers are being trained by the Oral History Society.
The Community Benefit Society has appointed Anna Watson, a retired archivist from Lancashire Archives, to lead the project.
Anna is providing professional advice on how the Lido archive can be developed, stored and protected.
