Ex-Workington man heads up major Australian firm

A former Workington man has been appointed as chairman of the APP Group, a leading company in Australia.

Dennis Finn, who was brought up on Crummock Road in the town and attended St Joseph’s School, also played non-League football for Workington Reds.

The 62-year-old started work in the circulation department of Cumbrian Newspapers before moving to Sellafield and later emigrating to New Zealand.

Since then he has spent 25 years working around the globe in senior executive roles globally, Most recently he held the role of managing director, professional services at Amazon Web Services across Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Southeast Asia, India, and Japan.

Dennis also spent ten years working at PwC as a senior partner in a range of leadership roles that included the New York-based role of global vice chairman, human capitallLeader.

In addition, he was the chief executive officer of Worley’s worldwide consulting division – Advisian, based in London and Melbourne. Dennis also served as chairman of global technology companies Roller Software and Genero Media.

After his latest appointment Dennis, who is also now a non-executive director of the APP Group  said, “I’m looking forward to working closely with the leadership team to deliver on the future growth strategy and the next evolution of the business.”

Dennis played football for the Moorclose Sunday League side and at Workington Reds played 28 times, plus three more as a substitute between 1987 and 1990, scoring seven goals.

The APP Group presents an integrated property and infrastructure service offering, that supports the full asset capital investment lifecycle. The group works on over $20 billion of capital value for 500 clients across 800 projects annually, delivered by a 550-plus strong team.
