A man has been arrested after a Royal Mail van was robbed in South Cumbria.

It happened in County Square, Ulverston, today, November 14 following an incident involving a white Skoda saloon and a white Peugeot van, seen at the rear of the sorting office, at about 2.55pm.

An immediate police response was launched and a man, in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the incident at about 3.15pm.

Two other men are still being sought by police.

The driver of the Royal Mail van was taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious at this time.

Detective Sergeant Wayne Dixon said: “We would like to reassure residents we are taking this incident extremely seriously and a team of officers are currently working on this investigation.

“We have made an arrest but we are still seeking two individuals involved in this incident.

“We are aware this happened in a public place and a number of people may have information which could help us or have mobile phone footage.

“I would ask anyone who has seen or knows anything that could help us to get in touch on the contact numbers below.”

Police are seeking two men wearing dark clothes. One wore a high-vis tabard over the top of dark clothing.
